One of us is retired (Marji). One of us was supposed to be retired (Jim). Instead of heading out in March to hike the 2,200 miles of the Appalachian Trail, we are headed to Melbourne, Australia where Jim will be working for  5 months and Marji will be taking advantage of being footloose and fancy-free in a new country! We will be leaving behind the promise of Spring and Summer in upstate New York!

This blog will be a journal of our time in Australia and Marji will will usually be the writer, but from time to time Jim may put in his 2 cents, which may be difficult, as we believe that AU has done away with their penny!

We have 2 sons, Tucker and Corey, and one daughter-in-law, Alison, who we hope will visit us at some point during our 5 month assignment.

Marji and Jim, I’ve been thinking about you and I’m very pleased to know that the trip went well and that your first experiences in Melbourne have been so good. It sounds like a wonderful city with plenty of things to see and do. I’ll look forward to following your adventures on line.

    Hi Guys,

My name is Luke Johnson I work at Wilsons Promontory National Park.
At the moment my team are finishings signage project for the year.
There is one particular photo you guys have taken on the Sealers Cove boardwalk. Is there any chance we could use if for our sealrers cove signage?? this is a non-for-profit project done by Parks Victoria

You would of course be credited for the photo on the sign but we unfortunately won’t be able to compensate you for it.

Please email me at luke.johnson@parks.vic.gov.au if you we can get your permission.
