Our day started with a trip to the airport and a bittersweet good-bye to Corey and Mike. We had such a good time with them, but know that they have things to look forward to at home.
We joined 59, 560 other footy fans at the “G” last night and watched a good game~plus the team we were cheering for won! The game was close for the first 3 quarters but our Hawks pulled away in the 4th quarter for a lop-sided win. This means the Hawks get a week off before playing in the semi–finals. The kids loved learning about the game and really got into barracking (cheering) for the Hawks! We didn’t seem to want the night to end because after walking back to the apartment we sat around talking until after midnight.
It appears that the boys flight left Melbourne on time and then was delayed by 25 minutes out of Sydney to LA. Hopefully all goes smoothly.
Liz got a run in while Jim and I made the airport trip and she was ready to go when we returned.
We walked to the Prahram Market and did a bit of shopping and enjoying the sights the market offers. We did a bit of window-shopping on Chapel Street, but kept our money in our wallets!
This afternoon we took Liz to see the Brighton Beach Boxes and hoped to walk along the bay by St. Kilda.
The weather turned cloudy, cold and windy when we arrived at the beach boxes so we did a short walk there and decided to cancel the walk by the bay. Instead we went to the Botanical Gardens and the Shrine of Remembrance. Once again, new things were blooming at the gardens and we found some areas that were new to Jim and I.
The three of us are feeling a bit tired and thought a quieter day was in order, but we managed to put over 20,000 steps on my pedometer. We will stay in tonight and watch the footy on TV.
Tomorrow Liz and I will head for the Great Ocean Road, so prepare yourself for more crashing waves photos!
I’ll close with some flower photos from the Botanical Gardens.
